Introduction
Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) is the national governing body responsible for the promotion and development of basketball in Pakistan. Basketball was introduced in the Sub-Continent in 1900 and gained popularity in Sialkot, Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi. The Pakistan Amateur Basketball Federation was formally established in February 1952 and began its functions in early 1953.
Mission
To promote and develop basketball in Pakistan in accordance with the rules, regulations and standards of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Role and Responsibilities
Promotion
Promote and develop basketball throughout Pakistan at all levels.
Governance
Enforce rules, regulations, integrity and standards for the conduct of the game.
Membership
Encourage and facilitate affiliated member organizations under the Constitution.
Competitions
Organize and sanction national championships, tournaments and international fixtures.
National Teams
Select and manage teams and officials representing Pakistan at home and abroad.
International Relations
Coordinate and support visits of foreign basketball teams to Pakistan.
Officiating
Standardize and supervise the functions of the Referees Board.
Coordination
Oversee basketball activities of member units nationwide.
Strategic Action
Undertake initiatives needed to achieve the Federation's objectives.
Training
Implement structured coaching and athlete-development programmes.
